How to calculate crypto profit and return
Crypto return shows, as a percentage, how much you gained or lost relative to your cost basis. The key is the trading fee taken on both the buy and the sell. The buy fee adds to your cost basis, and the sell fee reduces your net proceeds, so ignoring fees makes your return look higher than it really is.

For example, buying 1 coin at $40,000 and selling at $50,000 is a 25% return with 0% fees. With 0.05% fees on each side, the return is slightly lower. What trading fee rate should I enter?
It depends on your exchange and order type (limit/market). Common spot fees range from roughly 0.04% to 0.25%, and may be lower with discounts or promotions. Check your exchange's fee schedule for the exact rate. The default 0.05% is just an example.
How do I find the sell price where return is 0%?
The fee-adjusted breakeven price is available in the averaging-down & breakeven calculator. Even selling at the same price you bought results in a small loss because of buy and sell fees, so the breakeven price is slightly above your buy price.
